No-vig calculator

Every two-way line has hold baked in, so the two implied probabilities add up to more than 100%. The calculator takes the hold out and shows the fair American price and true percent for each side.

Type both sides in American odds. It uses one method: each side's implied probability divided by the sum. Not Shin, power, or additive.

No-vig calculator filled with -110 and -110, showing a 4.76 percent hold and fair prices of -100.
Filled example: -110 and -110.

The formula

Get each side's implied probability from its American odds, then divide each by the sum of the two. That sum is the overround. Hold here is (overround - 1) times 100. Fair American is the no-vig percent turned back into a price.

Example 1

-110 and -110.

Hold 4.76%. Overround 104.76%. Fair A -100. Fair B -100. True A 50.00%. True B 50.00%.

Example 2

-150 and +130.

Hold 3.48%. Overround 103.48%. Fair A -138. Fair B +138. True A 57.98%. True B 42.02%.

Limits

Fair odds are just the pair you typed with the vig removed. They're not a forecast or a price any book has to offer. Because the split is proportional, a very lopsided pair can come out differently under another method. Two-way only. It doesn't place bets.

FAQ

What is the hold on -110/-110?

4.76%. The overround is 104.76%. Each fair price is -100, and each true probability is 50.00%.

Why does fair even money print as -100?

The page formats a 50% fair probability as American -100.

Does this remove vig from one side only?

No. It needs both sides. A single price still has the hold in it.

Which method is this?

Proportional. Each implied probability divided by the sum of both.

Can I enter three sides?

No. Two American prices.
